HOW DID SARDINES GET THEIR NAME

The scientific name is Sardina pilchardus, a small shad like fish. They live on the surface of sea water. Widely distributed, the eastern north Atlantic and Mediterranean areas are the largest. The body length can reach 25 cm. Upper part of the body light green blue, abdomen silver white.
