WHAT IS THE GROWTH PROCESS OF CORN

Simply speaking, the growth and development process of corn can be divided into three processes: seedling stage, ear stage and flower seed stage, among which ear stage can be divided into jointing stage, big honkou stage and small honkou stage, and flower seed stage can be divided into tasseling stage, powder stage and seed.

1. Seedling stage: refers to the period from seedling to jointing, which is dominated by vegetative growth and centered on root construction. The emergence of seedling is from sowing to germination, in the large field has 50% seedling, seedling height 2 cm period.

Ear stage: refers to the period from jointing to heading. This period is a time when vegetative growth and reproductive growth go hand in hand. This period can be divided into jointing stage, honkou stage and honkou stage.

The jointing stage is the stage when the young ear differentiates, and the stem node with 2~3 cm can be felt by hand near the ground. The bell-mouth stage is the period when the rod leaves begin to pull out, but have not yet unfolded, forming new leaves clumpy, upper flat, hollow, like a trumpet, when the female ear enters the floret differentiation stage, and the elastic spikelets can be felt between the upper leaf and the ununfolded leaf.

3. Flower seed period: refers to the period from tassel to fruiting, which is the stage with reproductive growth as the center and the establishment of seeds. It includes tasseling stage, powder stage and fruiting stage.
